Kapangyarihan by SB19: POWER IN SOCIETY

AUTHOR: Lloyd Karl Navales

Power can appearance lives and society, but it can also lead to problems when leaders abuse it. SB19’s song Kapangyarihan talks about how power can make leaders forget their duties and harm the people they are supposed to serve. The song also inspires hope, showing that people can stand up for their rights and fight for freedom.

How Power Changes Leader

The song shows how power can make leaders selfish and careless. In the line, "Ba't sinaulo't 'di sinapuso bilang buhay ng tao," SB19 points out that some leaders know the value of life but do not truly care. Another line, "Kayong mga hari-harian pagkakari na ng mga ulo," criticizes leaders who act like kings, letting their pride and arrogance grow too much.

SB19 also reminds us that real power belongs to the people. In the line, "Wag niyong kalimutan na hawak-hawak namin ang inyong trono," they say that leaders only have power because the people allow it. But sadly, some leaders forget this, as shown in the line, "Nadidinig n'yo pa ba 'ko pangako'y napako dahil sa korona sa ulo n'yo." This reflects how leaders can break their promises once they are distracted by power.

Message of Hope and Strength

While the song talks about the problems with power, it also gives hope. SB19 encourages people to stand up against oppression. The line, "Di na magpapaalipin pa sa mga rehas mo," tells us not to let ourselves be trapped by unfair rules or systems

The song compares freedom to a bird flying: "Ibon na malayang lumipad 'di na makukulong." This shows that people who fight for truth and justice cannot be silenced. Even if it’s scary to stand up, the truth will always come out, and justice will prevail.

•Inspiring Change

Kapangyarihan is not just about criticizing bad leaders—it’s also a call for action. SB19 reminds us that power belongs to the people who are brave enough to speak up and fight for their rights. The song inspires us to believe that even in hard times, we can make a differences
